How accurate is the Topaz Insight FIT™?
The Topaz Insight FIT™ is designed with high sensitivity and specificity. Unlike older guaiac-based tests, it is not affected by diet and can reliably detect very low levels of blood in stool.
Do I need to change my diet or medications before using the test?
No. Unlike guaiac-based fecal occult blood tests, the Topaz Insight FIT™ does not require dietary or medication restrictions. You can continue your normal routine before testing.
How do I use the test?
Each kit comes with step-by-step instructions. You will:
- Collect a small stool sample using the collection device.
- Place it into the specimen collection tube with buffer solution.
- Apply drops to the test cassette.
- Read the results within the indicated time.
How do I read the results?
- Positive: Two lines (C and T) → Occult blood detected.
- Negative: One line (C only) → No occult blood detected.
- Invalid: No line at C → Test did not run correctly, repeat with a new test.
What should I do if my result is positive?
A positive result does not confirm cancer. It indicates blood was detected in the stool, which could be due to various conditions. Please consult your healthcare provider immediately for follow-up testing (such as colonoscopy).
What if my result is negative?
A negative result means no occult blood was detected. However, no test is 100% perfect. Continue to follow your doctor’s recommended screening schedule.
